A man in the United States was rushed to the hospital after a serious accident. When he woke up, he had completely forgotten his native language and could only speak fluent Spanish, which he had never spoken before. Doctors had no clear explanation for how this happened.
My Take: The brain is like a locked room full of doors we have never opened. Maybe this man had heard enough Spanish throughout his life for his brain to pull it out when it needed something to hold onto. Or maybe, just maybe, there is something about memory and language we do not understand yet.
