When the James Webb Space Telescope sent back its first images in 2022, it felt like humanity had just unlocked a new level in a game we did not even know we were playing. The telescope showed us distant galaxies, strange exoplanets, and even potential signs of life in the atmosphere of a far-off world. Scientists detected carbon dioxide and water vapor on exoplanets, which means we might be closer to finding alien life than we thought.
My Take: Every time we think we are the center of the universe, something like this comes along to remind us how small we really are. But instead of making that feel overwhelming, it is kind of beautiful. If there are planets out there with water and atmosphere, who is to say there is not someone else looking up at their sky, wondering the same thing?
